Media Information

Rachel Waddilove is a highly experienced maternity nurse, nanny, mother and grandmother, whose clients have included Gwyneth Paltrow and Lady Ivar Mountbatten. The Baby Book - Rachel's first foray into publishing - received international press coverage and praise when it was published in 2006. The Daily Telegraph described it as 'without doubt, the wisest book about families I have ever read' while The Observer commented that it 'may well be seen as the most sensible book ever written on how to bring up a baby'.

20 March 2008 saw the publication of Rachel's second book, The Toddler Book. In her characteristically warm style - full of practical common sense - Rachel offers advice, encouragement and accessible wisdom for all aspects of life with a toddler (covering 1, 2 and 3 year olds). Her keynote is a call to 'positive parenting' and consistency. As well as tackling key areas - behaviour and discipline, sleeping, eating, potty training, development, illnesses and general care - Rachel spends time discussing related topics, such as the crucial importance of play, how to build a strong family life and preparing a toddler for the arrival of a baby brother or sister. She also looks at recent social changes in parenting and family life, and the impact these have on bringing up children in the 21st century. In a final heartfelt chapter, she offers advice on how to meet your toddler's spiritual and emotional needs as well as their physical needs. An appendix provides flexible routine charts - one of the much-praised features of The Baby Book - for 1, 2 and 3 year olds (including combining flexible routines for a toddler and young baby).

Praise for The Toddler Book:
'Rachel's book tackles the complexity and challenge of bringing up toddlers in the 21st century... The book is written with a real warmth and encouraging, practical style... is a treasure trove of information, addressing all aspects of childcare and development.'
