For Dr Ruth Bancewicz, experiencing scientific research first hand brings a sense of awe that enhances faith. She has encountered many others who have similar stories. This book distils that experience, and explores the common ground between science and faith. Science can be unglamorous and tough, but it gives the opportunity to use creativity and imagination, to appreciate the beauty of the natural world, and to experience the joy of finding out new things – thinking God’s thoughts after him. Through the eyes of the author and six other experienced scientists, God in the Lab shows how science can build faith in God.
Dr Ruth Bancewicz studied genetics at the Universities of Aberdeen and Edinburgh before working as the Development Officer for Christians in Science, a post she held for three years. She is now a Research Associate at The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion, Cambridge (UK), where she works on positive expressions of the science-faith dialogue and has developed the Test of FAITH resources.|Alister E. McGrath (DPhil and DD, University of Oxford; Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts) is professor of theology, ministry, and education, and head of the Centre for Theology, Religion, and Culture at King's College, London. He is the author and editor of numerous books, including the award-winning The Passionate Intellect: Christian Faith and the Discipleship of the Mind. A former atheist, he is respectful yet critical of the new atheist movement and regularly engages in debate and dialogue with its leaders
