Sue Mayfield

SUE MAYFIELD grew up in the North East of England and studied English at Oxford University. Since first being published in 1988, Sue has written several books for teenagers including eight novels. Blue, (published in 2001 by Hodder Children's Books) was nominated for the Carnegie Medal and won the North East Book Award. In addition, Sue has written a number of stories and rhymes for younger children including Shoot!, The Four Franks and I Can You Can Toucan (all Egmont Banana Books). She is co-author of two books for under-fives, Our Wonderful World and Molly Muddle’s Cake, and is presenter and co-author of the popular Sticky Kids cassettes and CDs.

Trained as a teacher and experienced with children of all ages, Sue Mayfield is a regular visitor to schools - primary, secondary and special education - where she is involved in storytelling events, performances and workshops. Sue has also taught creative writing to adults and been writer-in-residence at a museum, a church, a hospice, and several schools.

Sue now lives in Cheltenham with her husband, their three sons and a border collie called Moss. She enjoys walking, theatre, cooking, cinema and salsa dancing.
