Richard & Katharine Hill
RICHARD & KATHARINE HILL have been married for 20 years, and live with their 4 children near Bristol. Richard and Katharine are both solicitors: Richard qualified in 1985 and is now a partner in the Bristol Law practice GLQ, and Katharine qualified as a Family Law solicitor in 1984. After working for a legal practice for a number of years, dealing primarily with divorce, Katharine now works for Care for the Family as a Marriage Project Coordinator, and for the National Couple Support Network.
Bringing together their personal experience of marriage with their professional qualifications, Richard and Katharine have both been heavily involved in marriage counselling and marriage preparation courses. Richard is a Trustee of the Bristol Community Family Trust - a charity providing relationship education, including marriage preparation, in the community. Together they led the Marriage Preparation course at their local church, and are now regional advisors for the Marriage Course. The press have also recognised Richard and Katharine's capacity for sound advice: Katharine has written articles for various magazines including The Baptist Times and Care for the Family magazine, and the couple took part in a recent HTV West documentary, Love in the Afternoon.
Richard and Katharine have drawn on their experiences to write their first book, Rules of Engagement. Written from their passion for family life and their belief that the family unit forms the building blocks of society, the book looks at the practicalities of getting married alongside the principles of building a sound, lasting marriage.
