Beth Webb

Beth WebbBETH WEBB is an experienced writer and illustrator of children’s books. Her stories are mostly based on real places or events, intertwined with traditional folk legends. With a degree in Sociology and Psychology, Beth has plenty of experience in teaching creative writing – including the conception of Making Magic Happen, an Open College of Arts distance learning course in children’s creative writing, for which Beth wrote and illustrated the course book.

As a child, Beth’s favourite books were The Tanglewood Tales by Nigel Hawthorne and Kipling’s Just So Stories and she has a
passion for The Chonicles of Narnia which she has read and re-read. Beth's books include the popular Fleabag series – three stories about a mangy, threelegged, street-wise cat and his friends – and exciting fantasy adventure for readers aged
9–12. She is also the author of Star Dancer, published by Macmillan and most-recently, The Junkyard Dragon illustrated by Russell Julian for which Beth has developed a performance which includes music and movement for 4–6s.

‘She opens a door on the heights and depths that fantasy can offer, but with such a light touch and a witty knowing edge... that it never seems solemn or old-fashioned, refreshing the time-honoured images, rather than debunking them.’
Philip Gross, Author and Lecturer
