Jonathan Hill
JONATHAN HILL was born in Margate, Kent, and graduated with a BA in Philosophy and Theology and an MA in Theology from Oriel College, Oxford in 1997, where he specialized in Leibniz and The Church Fathers. Jonathan is now studying for a PhD in Philosophy at the National University of Singapore, having been awarded the President's Scholarship. He has previously worked as a subtitler for Sky News, Sky Sports and Channel Five, a Researcher for Prospect Pictures and Production Assistant for NHK Europe, where he was involved in the conception, writing and research of new television programmes and documentaries. Jonathan is also a freelance copy editor and proof reader, and especially enjoys working on Terry Pratchett novels. Jonathan is willing to talk about anything, but expresses a particular fondness for the Blues...
Jonathan has been highly commended for his keen grasp of theology and philosophy, his engaging writing style and his ability to make often complex subjects come to life. This is demonstrated in his first book, The History of Christian Thought, published by Lion in 2003. This book focuses on the key personalities who have shaped the history of Christian theology and, subsequently, the culture of much of the world. Jonathan's second book, Faith in the Age of Reason, is part of the successful Lion Histories series and focuses on the age of the Enlightenment. Jonathan's third book for Lion, What Has Christianity Ever Done for Us?, is a fascinating, colourful and thought-provoking exploration of the huge impact of Christianity upon our world and society, from culture, education and the arts to ethics and social justice.
