Stephen Tomkins

Stephen Tomkins Having had a variety of jobs, from Petrol Station Attendant (night shift) to working for an Insurance Broker, STEPHEN TOMKINS now bills himself as a full-time writer, preacher, youth group leader, Reviews Editor for Third Way and Contributing Editor for Ship of Fools - and with a BA in English and History and a PhD in Historical Theology, he is eminently qualified to do so. When he's not busy with all of this, Stephen enjoys music - both writing and playing - and 'creative bookshelf management'! He lives in London with his wife and their two young children.

Stephen's first book for Lion, John Wesley: A Biography, was published to much critical acclaim. The book explores one of the greatest evangelists, investigating Wesley's complex character; it is a thoroughly realistic portrait of a man who achieved great things. Stephen's second book, Paul and his World, is part of the successful Lion Histories series. Stephen's most recent publication for Lion, A Short History of Christianity is a warts-and-all tour through 2,000 years of Christian history.
